Nuclear Power

Building a Smarter Tomorrow Through Science.

परमाणु ऊर्जा हॉल

Nuclear technology touches our lives in more ways than we often realise—it lights our homes, heals through medicine, supports agriculture, advances research, and helps protect the environment. Yet, for many, it remains surrounded by questions and misconceptions. Who were the pioneers of nuclear science? How does a nuclear power plant generate electricity? What emerges from those towering cooling structures? How safe are nuclear power plants, and how do they contribute to a cleaner, low-carbon future? The Hall of Nuclear Power brings together these questions and answers in an engaging, intuitive, and visitor-friendly manner. Spread over nearly 700 square metres at the National Science Centre, New Delhi, the gallery showcases the diverse applications of nuclear energy and radiation in the service of humankind
With over 60 permanent interactive and audiovisual exhibits, the gallery offers a rich learning experience— from uranium mining and fuel fabrication to the inner workings of a nuclear power plant and the fundamental principles behind nuclear energy generation. Special emphasis is placed on nuclear safety and environmental protection, explaining everything from pre-plant environmental monitoring to safe plant operation and responsible nuclear waste management. Visitors can even step into the role of a plant operator, take a virtual walk-through of a nuclear power station, interact with holographic ‘nuclear experts’, and explore common myths through the popular Ask Budhiya exhibit. The gallery’s ultimate aim is to replace curiosity and doubt with clarity and confidence—so every visitor leaves saying, “Wow! Now I know better.”
